The Loss 5,190. That’s how many workers lost their lives in 2016 to fatal work injuries, an average of 14 people a day. This is a 7% increase from the 4,836 fatal injuries in 2015, according to a recent report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is also the third consecutive increase in annual workplace fatalities and the first time more than 5,000 fatalities have been recorded by the Census of Fatal Occupational Injuries (CFOI) since 2008.
