VISIÓN GENERAL DEL VIRUS DEL NILO OCCIDENTAL El virus del Nilo Occidental (VNO) es la principal causa de enfermedad transmitida por mosquitos en el territorio continental de Estados Unidos. Se transmite con mayor frecuencia a las personas por la picadura de un mosquito infectado. Los casos de VNO se producen durante la temporada de mosquitos, que comienza en verano y continúa hasta el otoño. No hay vacunas para prevenir ni medicamentos para tratar el VNO en las personas.
