WHAT TYPES OF FIBRES ARE USED TO MAKE ROPE SLINGS?

Fibres used to make rope slings generally fall into two catergories:
  • Natural such as abaca (Manila) fibre.
  • Synthetic, including: nylon, polyester, polypropylene, Kevlar.
  • Choose the sling material that best matches the needs of the job being done.
What are the characteristics of natural fibre rope slings? Natural fibres are:
  • Flexible.
  • Shock absorbent.
  • Non abrasive.
