What are chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases?
Chronic obstructive pulmonary (or lung) diseases (COPD or COLD) refer to a group of diseases in which there is insufficient flow of air into or out of the lungs. Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases include primarily of chronic bronchitis, emphysema, and asthma. Patients may experience various symptoms like shortness of breath that gets worse over time (e.g., several years), chronic coughing, and obstructed airways under some conditions.
