Two NYC Employers Cited for Alleged Violations

Two workers fell 47 stories when their scaffold became detached from a window washing rig attached to the building’s roof. Miraculously, one man was critically injured, but survived. The other worker died. OSHA cited City Wide Window Cleaning for serious violations including the lack of fall protection, training and inspections, and the lack of a vertical lifeline. Another company, Tractel, Inc., was issued serious citations alleging improper installation of crimps used to secure platform hoist ropes, use of crimps that could not support the scaffold’s load and failure to inspect the crimps. City Wide has been issued proposed penalties totaling $24,000, while Tractel faces $21,000 in proposed penalties.
