Asphalt Shingle Roofs Blister Causing Costly Repairs and Roof Failure.

  1. Trapped Moisture. Blisters will form on a roof if moisture is trapped in the shingle during the manufacturing process. The moisture trapped in the shingle rises to the top as the sun heats it, causing blisters on your roof.
  2. Insufficient Ventilation. Inadequate ventilation is the most typical cause. The temperature of your roof and attic will rise if there isn’t enough ventilation. Blisters can form if the shingles are exposed to too much heat.
  3. Poor Workmanship. Roof blistering is caused by improper installation. Wrinkles, leaks, and blisters can occur if roofing materials are not loosened or put at the proper temperature. These concerns raise the risk of structural damage and shorten the roof’s lifespan. Ensure that the roofer you pick is well-trained and has excellent installation abilities.
  4. Unbearable Heat. Extremely high temperatures will eventually take their toll on the materials used in roofing.

  • Of the top 10 riskiest jobs, roofing comes in at number 6. Workers in the roofing industry are three times more likely to have a fatal injury than workers in other industries, and about 50 roofers are killed on the job each year.
  • Falls account for three-fourths of all fatalities in the roofing industry.
  • Within the construction industry overall, falls from roofs account for one-third of all fall-related fatalities.
  • Approximately 11% of work-related deaths for roofers are due to electrocution.
  • 445 construction workers died from coming into contact with an electrical current. Of those, 26 were roofers.
  • One worker was hospitalized for nine days after hot tar splashed on his arms. Another worker died after receiving hot tar burns to 15% of his body. In the state of Washington, nine roofers were hospitalized with hot tar burns.
  • Of those fatalities, 54% did not have access to a Personal Fall Arrest System (PFAS), and another 23% had access to one but did not use it.
